STEM is now!

After school target populations are grossly misrepresented in the STEM-based professions.

We fully recognize that STEM education and curriculum is a national imperative in after school program design.  In his 2011 State of the Union Address, President Obama specifically mentioned that over the course of the next year he would "prepare 100,000 new teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math." He challenged lawmakers to build on the educational successes of last year by investing more in education and research to “prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.”

The Challenge

According to the National Center for Education Statistics and the National Science Foundation, our minority populations, especially our growing Hispanic populations, are grossly misrepresented in the STEM-based professional fields, and the challenge of engaging these apathetic, unmotivated, and/or fearful learners is an increasingly dire concern.  Furthermore, many of the current STEM-based projects & jobs on US soil are being auctioned off to "more capable" foreign companies.  Obviously, the necessity to educate our youth in the STEM field is essential to continued national success in an expanding, competitive global economy.

FLUX is STEM!

FLUX curriculum highlights fun, creative, and relevant STEM projects which increase learning outcomes by maximizing student motivation, a necessary component to future industry success. We utilize a highly effective approach to target and engage reluctant STEM participants in complex and abstract projects, based on both the students' interests and their unique learning styles.  We specifically align the learning outcomes of each STEM curriculum with the Common Core standards in science, technology, engineering, and math.  More importantly, however, our STEM curriculum creates a path to critical thinking and problem solving.  Ultimately, these are the real-world relevant skills our students need to compete in the global economy.  STEM is now.

FLUX is the future!
